Wafa is a professional Arabic & Islamic Teaching consultant with many years of experience in teaching Arabic literature and Arabic as a second language in both British and IB education system. She holds a BA degree in Arabic literature and religious education from Qatar University and has a PGCE degree in Education from Goldsmiths University in the UK. She has also a certificate from Goldsmiths University in mentoring and training teachers.
Wafa has been a senior leader since 2008, having created and developed a highly effective team in the Arabic department, nurturing enhanced learning and positive attitudes in this area of study. Her teaching is consistently outstanding, always making a positive contribution to teacher development through conferences, internal inset and curriculum development.
As well as her teaching job, in 2004-2008 she was a mentor for five years training Arabic PGCE University trainees in the UK.
Wafa has worked with The King Fahad Academy for 16 years teaching Arabic A and Arabic B, IB Diploma language B & ab-initio. She worked with Ellen Wilkinson School for Girls for four years teaching Arabic AL. She then moved to Dubai as a senior leader and worked there for four years. She taught Arabic IB Diploma and achieved excellent results. While in Dubai she began to provide internal training and to assist Heads of Arabic departments in IB schools in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. Wafa worked closely with the primary and secondary Arabic department on assessment strategies and produced some levels for Arabic as a second language from 1-8 that are relevant to students’ abilities and standards. She also worked with primary in improving the curriculum with challenging achievable objectives.
Most recently Wafa has been teaching IB Arabic B at the International Community School in London.
She also worked with OCR/ CIE, creating Arabic exams for international schools in Bahrain and Egypt. She has also given private Arabic lessons for some IB and A Level students. Wafa has also supervised Arabic extended essays “Arab women’s right in voting and Arab women’s right in marriage”.
In addition to her work with IB students, Wafa has been working with a variety of exam boards on the design and assessment, and working with university admissions.
Wafa works with Infinite Learning for Education in UAE giving training courses to the teachers in the Arabic department in the Middle East British Schools.
