Suna was born and raised in Korea through her university studies at Changwon National University where she earned a BA in German Language and Literature, with a minor in English Language and Literature. She then took the decision to move to Australia to further her studies at La Trobe University in Melbourne where she earned a Graduate Diploma in Education (ESL and LOTE) and a Graduate Diploma in TESOL. It was in Australia where she started her teaching career working for five years at Kilmore International several prestigious School in Victoria, an IB World School, and then as a teacher of IB Korean A and B at Melbourne’s leading IB World Schools including as Wesley College, Methodist Ladies College, Presbyterian Ladies College, Lauriston Girls School and Ivanhoe Boys School.
During this time, Suna also became an Assessor of Korean Oral and Written Examinations, a member of the VCE (Victoria Certificate of Education) Korean Examination Setting Panel, and finally a Chief Assessor for Korean Oral Examinations.
She then returned to Korea to teach at the Taejon Christian International School in Taejon, where for the past ten years her role with the IBO has grown and where she has participated in and presented at numerous IB PD workshops in Korea related to IBMYP Language and Literature, IBDP Korean A Language and Literature, and she has travelled twice to the IB Global Examinations Office in Cardiff, Wales for further IB training. Suna has also supervised many IB Extended Essays – normally a half dozen papers per year.
