Steffi grew up in Dessau and Wittenberg in Sachsen-Anhalt, Germany. Upon completing her secondary education, she moved to Thüringen to study English Linguistics and Literature, as well as German Linguistics and Literature, at the University of Erfurt. Receiving an ERASMUS scholarship in 2007, she moved to the UK for a year’s exchange at the University of Portsmouth. Though she returned to Erfurt to complete her degree in German Language and Literature, she continued her post-graduate education back to the UK earning an MA in Applied Linguistics at Birkbeck, University of London. While working on her MA, Steffi began to work as a private tutor, working with students ranging from children as young as three, to adults, teaching both German as a mother tongue, and German language to non-native speakers. She has taught through language teaching agencies, as well as in schools, and while in Portsmouth she worked as a GCSE German teaching assistant. She is currently based in London where she teaches both at an IB World School at IBMYP and IBDP level, and also at the German Saturday School for native speakers. Steffi is a keen dancer and in her spare time competes in Line Dancing in national and international competitions, winning in her division at the World Championship 2010. She continues to engage in that and to teach dance fitness.
