Sengul grew up in Istanbul. She studied the History of Art at Hacettepe University, and then did a BA in Turkish Language Teaching from Sakarya University, and most recently she earned an MA in Social Sciences (Adult Education) from Bogazici University. She is also completing a programme on teaching Philosophy to Children. She worked as a teacher of Turkish at six secondary schools in Turkey, and also as a Project Manager in an Adult Education Centre, and then as a Consultant with Ataköy Education and Consultation Service. For the past five years she has been in the UK where she taught Turkish at British schools while also working as a researcher for two international Market Research organisations. She has also taught Turkish A (MYP and DP) at two IB World Schools in London. Sengul has used her language skills to do translations and also to volunteer with two refugee centres in London. Sengul also works with private students – both teens and adults.
Sengul’s hobbies include reading historical novels and biographies, listening to music, going to cinema, and swimming, climbing, and solving analytical puzzles. She has an interest in dancing (tango), yoga and art shows and regional cuisines.
