Agata was born and raised in Poland where she has lived her entire life. She attended Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań, Poland where she earned a degree in Polish Language and Literature and then a Master’s Degree in Polish philology specializing in the teaching of Polish language and literature. This was followed by a Ph.D. where her dissertation was entitled: Symbol, irony and grotesque in education of Polish studies. She has also been an assistant professor in Polish language at this same university.
During her career she has produced nearly thirty articles and books on literature and methods and techniques of teaching Polish language. Her articles have been published in academic journals in Poland.
Agata has taught in two IB World Schools in Poland since 1998, offering Polish A 1 and then Polish A Literature. She has also supervised many SSST Polish A (SL) candidates. She has continuously participated in IB training, attending conferences in Zurich and Lublin, as well as attending several IB meetings in Cardiff. Agata has also supervised many IBDP Extended Essays on Religious symbolism in short stories by Herling –Grudziński; Conceptions of metaphors in poetry by Pawlikowska –Jasnorzewska; Portraits of woman in novels by Pilch; Motifs of musical instruments in contemporary Polish poetry; Elements of theatre of absurd in dramas by Różewicz; Motif of Satan in selected Polish poems from modernism period; Elements of grotesque in selected novels by Stanisław Lem (s-f writer); Elements of horror novel in works by Grabowski; and Comparison of portraits of detectives in novels by Conan-Doyle and Krajewski.
